Businesses in Lincoln are undergoing talks with the University of Lincoln about a Dragons Den style competition aimed at students.
The Enterprise @ Lincoln group have come up with the idea that students can pitch their business ideas to a panel of ‘Lincoln Dragons’.
The winner will receive a cash incentive and support and mentoring from businesses which include HSBC and the Business Club Lincoln.
The thought behind the competition is that it will encourage students to stay in Lincoln after they graduate, and that new businesses will help to regenerate the local economy.
The panel of Lincoln Dragons will be made up of vaious people from local businesses, and will include ‘celebrity’ dragon Andy Harsley.
He’s one of the most successful contestants to survive the television version of Dragons Den with his innovative Rapstrap idea, securing an order of his plastic strapping worth £36 million in 2008.
