Tonight and tomorrow night the Drill Hall will be holding the dance show “Vida”. Its a collaboration of two dance companies “Free Spirit” and “Fiesta Flamenco”. The show was inspired by the Mexican festival el Dia de los Meurtos (the Day of the Dead). It is a two day celebration where the community remember and celebrate the loved ones they have lost.
“Vida” is an imaginative interpretation presented by professional, amateur and local dancers. It is an interpretation of the celebration of life through contemporary and flamenco dance. The two different dances echo the connections between the world of the living and the land of the dead.
The final performances take place at the Drill Hall tonight and tomorrow night, doors opening at 7:30.
They are also holding open contemporary workshops on Saturday from 12 noon to 3pm. You can come down and try both styles of dances. No experience neccessary the workshops are made for beginners so everyone can go along.
Tickets are on sale at the Drill Hall.
