A festival looking at technological advances made since 1985, is taking place at The University of Lincoln, hosted by The Gadget Show presenter and visiting University lecturer Jason Bradbury.
The festival is inspired by the sci-fi classic Back To The Future and this month marks the 30th anniversary of the time-travelling film.
The free-to-attend festival will be held all day at the Engine Shed and features a series of talks from Mr Bradbury throughout the day.
The film’s anniversary is especially relevant as October 2015 is the time character Marty Mcfly travels to in the future.
Mr Bradbury’s replica of the iconic DeLorean time machine will be at the festival, as well as futuristic tech, including robots created by computer science students.
The Gadget Show presenter will greet visitors in full Doc Brown costume and discuss whether time travel is possible, as well as topics like nuclear fusion and future technology.
Attendees will have a chance to use cutting edge tech like the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset as well as retro gaming consoles like the Atari 2600.
A ‘Maker Zone’ includes a section with interactive art as well as live 3D printing.
Bradbury said: “Future Fest represents a fantastic opportunity to take stock of exactly how far the world has come in terms of technological advancements over the last three decades. When Back to the Future first hit our screens in the 1980s there was so little consumer tech around, but now amazing new inventions and innovations are being launched on a daily basis.”
The festival will end with a screening of the first two Back To The Future films, held in a lecture theatre that will be transformed into a cinema for the event.
