As the cold weather sets in, it seems postmen are under attack.
On Saturday morning, a postman was hit with snowballs and then pushed off his bicycle in Gratham. The man suffered injuries to his face as a result.
Less than an hour later a Post Office vehicle was driving in Hornsby Road when one of its windows were smashed by a snowball. When the postman stepped out of his vehicle he was punched in the face.
As a result of the attacks police have increased their patrols in the area and sent out an appeal to urge wittnesses to come forward.
One of the inspectors has stated that snowballs often have lumps of ice and sometimes stones, which can cause serious damage if thrown at vehicles. The police have also said that they want people to enjoy the snow but criminal damage will not be tolerated.
