A Lincolnshire theatre company is to begin hosting performing arts masterclasses for children and adults in Grantham.
MJH Productions will hold weekly workshops teaching singing, dancing and acting.
The classes aim to introduce people with no previous experience to performing arts while also developing the skills of those with more experience.
Adam Slepowronski, 34, director and choreographer with the group, said: “Attendees are expected to work hard but have fun. It’s an opportunity for people to have a go at things they wouldn’t normally have a go at.”
The classes are open to anyone over the age of 11, and will focus on a wide range of ensemble material.
Slepowronski said: “We will be exploring harmonies, acting through song, and musical staging.”
MJH Production itself was created in 2018 by producer Matthew Hewitt, who the company is named after. He had previously created and led performance-based workshops for Lincoln College.
It is comprised of musical director David Andrew Warman and assistant director and choreographer Kate Willey, alongside Slepowronski and Hewitt.
The company has put on three previous productions involving young performers within the community. They were Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and most recently Oliver!, all performed in Grantham’s’ St Wulfram Church.
The masterclasses begin on Tuesday January 9 and will take place in Walton Academy Secondary School on Harlaxton Road, running from 6:30pm until 9:00pm.
“It will be wonderful to work with a mix of new and familiar faces.” Slepowronski said.
