Lincoln City Football Club have strengthened their defence with the signing of Reading full-back, Julian Kelly.
The 21-year-old has joined on a month long loan deal from the Championship outfit, and goes straight into the Imps squad to face former team Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
Kelly enjoyed a fruitful loan spell with the Chairboys in League One last season, turning out nine times for the Buckinghamshire side, and contributing one goal.
He will be with the Imps up until 15 February 2011, with his last appearance scheduled to be against Aldershot Town on the same day.
The Royals defender is comfortable in both full back positions and will provide City manager Steve Tilson with much needed cover after the injury sustained to Arsenal loanee, Gavin Hoyte, in the recent F.A Cup defeat to Hereford United.
Like Hoyte, Kelly comes via Arsenal, after being a part of the Gunners academy until the age of 16 before moving to Berkshire to join Reading. In total, he has made seven appearances for the Royals in the Championship and is regarded as a hot prospect for the future.
Furthermore, he has received International recognition after being called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 19 squad back in 2008.
Kelly should not be the only player from the second tier to sign for Lincoln this week, with hotshot Ashley Grimes poised to extend his loan from Millwall until the end of the season.
