The City of Lincoln 10K run breaks records with the fastest completion time of any Jane Tomlinson Run for All 10K, in their 12 years of running events.

Lucian Allison dashed across the finish line in 29 minutes 29 seconds, beating the previous record by 54 seconds, set in 2017.

The large crowd cheered enthusiastically as almost 4,550 runners started on Riseholme Road and finished near the Cathedral.

Tens of thousands of pounds have been raised and will go towards the official partner charities including the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

Run For All has partnered with the Jane Tomlinson Appeal since 2007 and is part of the legacy of amateur athlete and fundraiser, Jane Tomlinson CBE.

Tomlinson defied her diagnosis of an incurable cancer by taking part in endurance events, including marathons, triathlons and cross-Europe Cycle rides.

At the event, I spoke to Katie Bell, the fundraising manager of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

“Jane Tomlinson raised £1.8 million herself through fundraising events and started events such as the Leeds 10K which has now expanded including the Lincoln 10K”.

Bell said: “It’s great to always come back to Lincoln, its a lovely city and we’ve raised more money than we ever have this year”.

Projects are a massive part of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal with all fundraising going towards their four key projects.

These are the Bereavement Counselling for Children; Mini Mermaids and Young Tritons; Blood Test for Early Detection of Breast Cancer and Kinesio Taping Training.
