A Lindum Hockey Club player has revealed one of her most devastating moments on the pitch was also one of her most inspiring.
Nat Mansfield, now 26, was playing for the under-18s side when she missed a chance to score the winning goal in a game that would have won Lindum a national cup.
In a national final against Beeston HC – and with the game on the line – Nat was the last player to take a flick, having successfully scored others.
She said: “I was confident I was going to score this one as well, but I think the pressure may have taken its toll.”
She missed the opportunity and Lindum lost their shot at the title.
But despite the heartbreak, Nat today views this experience as an important lesson in handling pressure and managing expectations.
