After 15 years pub giant, Wetherspoon has revealed that the traditional Sunday roast dinner will no longer be available on the menu after Mothering Sunday.
Even though it was admitted that the Sunday roast was the chain’s most popular dish, they will instead be focusing on a large all-day menu. This is thought to be linked to a revamp that the company is currently going under.
The online menu has already been taken down from their website with an error message appearing in its place. The online menu of their other themed nights including Fish Friday, Mexican Monday and Wing it Wednesday have also disappeared from their website, despite the chain saying they will continue to host themed nights.
The official JD Wetherspoon’s twitter account has recently announced a new menu will launch on Wednesday, which will serve new dishes and drinks.
Local food blogger, Sam Pidoux she said: “I think it is such a shame in one sense because Sunday lunches should be the focus of British culture, we here have a huge tradition in England of having a Sunday roast, it gives people the chance on a Sunday just to sit down together, relax and reflect on the week that they have had.”
“It’s the one time as a family, in such a busy lives that we get to sit down and do that. So maybe it’s a reflection of the times for Wetherspoons but I do think it is such a shame,” she added.
