A “niche and quirky” business based in the Lincolnshire area has made a home at the University of Lincoln’s National Centre for Food Manufacturing.
Percy’s T, is a business that creates alcoholic ice teas in an array of flavours.
Ranging from White Tea and Black Tea, the sales show that Black Tea is the more favourable flavour.
Claire Hall, the founder of Percy’s Vodka Iced Teas, got the idea for the business when she was in London and working for a PR Company. She was drinking fruit teas at work one day and thought it would be great to add alcohol.
She explained that it was “a learning curve” for her since she thought of the idea.
Whilst working full time and doing Percy’s T on the side Miss Hall said:
“It’s only been the last six months that I have been selling properly and ready to go.”
Getting the help from SUSTAIN Lincolnshire, they helped Miss Hall gain access to other companies and suppliers for fruits and ingredients. Trying to keep up with what her customers wanted flavour wise, she said that the SUSTAIN project helped her expand her range.
Focusing mainly online, she says that a website in London has opened up a new revenue for her as they cater for quirky brands.
She however does food and drink shows and the Lincolnshire Christmas Fair as they are “good for brand awareness.”
Thinking ahead for the future, Miss Hall wants to push her four main flavours as well as create seasonal flavours for Summer and Christmas.
Her major goal for the year ahead would be to start doing this full time as it would give her more time to push the sales of her drinks.
LSJ News interviewed Claire Hall, with reporter Kristina Curtis asking where she got the idea to start this business.
