Most popular time for Christmas shopping revealed – and when you should do it

Christmas presents

If you are yet to complete your Christmas shopping; and fear that shops will always be filled with festive present-hunters and empty shelves, fear not.

A new study has revealed that 51 percent of seasonal shoppers complete their holiday buying before December even begins, while another 25 percent do so within the first week of December.

Just five percent of people leave it until the week before the big day, according to data published by the consumer insights team at Statista.

And, while this may suggest that late-month shoppers may be left with little to no Christmas essentials to choose from, Ben Martin, a sales floor section leader at Asda in Raunds, Northamptonshire, reckons otherwise.

He said: “We always receive more than enough Christmas stock every year, and we often end up with quite a bit left over after everything.”

He added: “The only festive items that customers will have to be quick to buy are decorations, as they sell the quickest I would say.

“If they’re for the Christmas tree or for in-and-around the house, people tend to grab them pretty quick. Christmas food is also another big one that people might have to be quick to buy”.
