Using a mobile phone while driving is one of the four main causes of fatal accidents in Lincolnshire, according to the police.
Figures obtained by LSJ News, under Freedom of Information laws, show that the number of motorists being fined for the offence has dropped over the last five years.
With almost 2468 convictions in 2008, this has gone down by more than 1200 in 2012 to date, with only 1251 fines issued so far this year.
