‘Micro pigs’ have become well known pets over the last few years in Britain, due to them becoming the new ‘designer’ pets.
The pigs, which have the same characteristics as normal pigs except smaller, have become a craze in the country as people have splashed out hundreds of pounds for the pets. Aside from their size, there are other factors that make the pets so lovable to the owners. Unlike cats and dogs, people cannot be allergic to pigs because their skin is so similar to ours and they have hair instead of fur. They also, despite enjoying rolling in mud, are very hygenic animals and are very easy to train.
The problem is that people are buying these pets without realising that they do get bigger. Some breeders tell consumers that the pigs stay piglet size, which is not true. The pigs can live up to 18 years, so people need to be aware of the size they grow to before investing in one. We went to find out a little bit more about the pigs from breeder Bill Hatchman.
They’re still awesome though!
