Lincoln City were beaten by a first half Alfreton goal that drops the Imps down to 19th, two places above relegation.
The Imp’s are now without a win since January and are slowly slipping down the table.
City started the stronger of the two sides with a couple of chances early on but when Alfreton defender, Theo Streete, went down with an injury resulting in an unwanted injury for the Reds, play was stopped and all of Lincoln’s momentum dissipated.
When play resumed Richard Pacquette fired a low shot narrowly wide. Peter Bore had the next chance minutes later when he volleyed goalwards forcing Alfreton keeper, Jon Stewart, into a save.
Both sides failed to create much more until City were caught on the back-foot and failed to get the ball out of their box. Jake Moult was there to steal the ball away in the area and easily slot it past Joe Anyon.
Lincoln were unable to equalise before the break and went into the break one goal down.
Lincoln were under pressure 90 seconds into the second half when the first corner of the game drifted dangerously close to the Lincoln goal. Joe Anyon easily gathered and attempted a counter attack which came to nothing.
In the last 20 minutes manager David Holdsworth threw on two new players in an attempt to snatch something from the game.
Unfortunately the Imps now make it back to back defeats and if they don’t start to improve will slip down into the relegation zone.
