Mary Portas criticises local council

Mary Portas, also know as Mary Queen of Shops, visited Market Rasen yesterday to find out how her Portas Pilot town had got on since her last visit.

In May, 2012, the government announced that towns could apply for government money to regenerate their high street. Market Rasen received £98,000 of the £1.5 million given out by the government.

After her visit she told LSJ news,

“I’m very impressed with the energy and effectiveness of how they spent their money. But, the local council need to rip up the old rule book and join in with the project”.

The council aren’t available for comment.
