Renowned broadcast journalist, Angela Rippon was welcomed back as a guest speaker at the University of Lincoln.
The broadcaster started her day by giving a workshop to trainee journalists.
LSJ exclusively spoke to Angela to ask what she thought of the gender issues in Journalism.
She said: “we did go through a period where there were a lot of blonde airheads with not a lot going on between the ears but were pretty and looked wonderful in front of the camera”
“They didn’t last for long”
This was before moving on to the more professional approach now taken by modern female journalists.
“It has taken a long time and we have gone through various stages but most of the women who now work in television, those who have been in it a long time, those who are coming into it, are there on merit.”
The biggest attendance to date this year went to the Cargill lecture theatre to see Angela.
