Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg visited RAF Waddington today.
He was there to welcome back the troops after NATO operations in Libya ended last week.
The UK’s mission, Operation Ellamy, flew more than 2,100 strikes successfully hitting around 640 targets.
The visit was attended by the RAF, Royal Navy and Army units who have just come back from Libya.
The Deputy Prime Minister called the troops the “Guardians of Freedom” and added: “thanks to the protection you have provided the Libyan people in their darkest hour they have thrown off the yolk of Gaddafi and his regime”.
After the speech Mr. Clegg spent the rest of his time talking to the troops and listening to their stories.
LSJ’s reporter Christine Diffey was there to witness the visit.
Well done Chris, thought it was good.
