Bicycle thefts across the country are on the increase according to Lincolnshire Police, there were nearly 2000 bicycles stolen in Lincolnshire last year and on average one bike is stolen every minute in the UK and with the victims having not noted down the registration number it’s getting very hard to track them down.
The trouble with the bike thefts is that the police have a very limited ability to retrieve the stolen bikes as they do not as yet know where they are being stored or sold on.
It is also partly due to the fact that the victims of the thefts haven’t given the police a detailed enough description.
John Fernandez had his bike stolen last week
.
“It’s been very me driven but where the police can help they have, but whether the police manage to get it I’m not so convinced.”
The message from the police is that cyclists have to make sure that they keep thier bikes locked up.
