A group of Lincolnshire oldies who love to skateboard are hopeful a new skate park will bring more fun times for young and old.
Lincolnshire skateboarding and BMX (incorporating old boys with rad toys) is made up of men aged
40 and above, who enjoy skateboarding and riding their BMX bikes.
The group often skate at Ghetto Park Grimsby on a Tuesday. They would like to see more venues for all to enjoy this sport.
Simon Landrey, 52, who started the group, said: “The Olympics had a huge impact on the kids watching sports, skateboarding and BMX with the likes of 13 year old Sky Browne getting a skateboarding silver and the BMXers being young too. We need somewhere for kids to exploit this inspiration.”
Simon, who started skateboarding in Holland during the 1970s, before moving to Lincolnshire, said he found a family in the sport “because you don’t get judged on social status purely as a person and ability”.
Dealing with age differences comes easy to the group, as Simon said: “We don’t care what anyone else thinks, we want to feel free and enjoy it.”

He is delighted there might be a new Skate Park nearby Cleethorpes.
North East Lincolnshire Council have announced a masterplan aimed to reinvent the seaside resort.
Council leader Philip Jackson said “staycations were becoming extremely popular, with Cleethorpes
in a great position to take advantage of that”.
“If we can offer a wider range of attractions, we can deliver what the public are really looking for.”
