Lincolnshire Police launch UK’s first murder investigation website

How far would you go to solve a murder? Are you more like Sherlock Holmes than Poirot or have you watched enough CSI to catch the criminal yourself? Lincolnshire Police have come up with a new way of trying to solve a case by launching a website to help catch the murderer of Alan Wood.

Wood was killed near Bourne in Lincolnshire in October 2009 and after unsuccessful appeals on BBC’s Crimewatch for information, the police decided to set up the website to keep the appeal alive and in people’s minds.

James Newall, Lincolnshire Police’s press officer, said that “what we wanted to do was create something lasting that would make it easy for people anywhere in the world to read as much detail as possible about the case and to get in touch with us really easily.”

The website is the first in the UK and includes details of the investigation, details of the suspect, reward information  and details about Wood as well as how to get in contact if you do have any information.

I spoke to James Newall to find out why it is so important to keep the investigation in the public eye.

If you do know anything about the murder or want to find out more, you can view the website at http://www.alanwoodmurder.com/
