Popular and historic local newspaper the Lincolshire Echo has announced it is to change to weekly publications.
The Echo published a daily paper for the last 118 years, yet now due to business reasons it has to change to every Thursday.
The change comes with several mandatory redundancies which are yet to be confirmed.
Part of the reason claimed to have forced the Echo to adapt it’s paper is that people’s reading habits have changed.
The turn to weekly publications is part of a trend which has seen several other Northern papers also turn weekly, as print newspapers are increasingly struggling to compete with the online presence of news.
The layout of the new edition is to be redesigned and will sell at £1.
