A Children in Need grant worth thousands of pounds has brought smiles to children in Lincoln.
Project YES is a scheme set-up by Life Church and gives youngsters the chance to take part in after-schools clubs and activities at Birchwood Community Centre.
The funding has allowed the group to continue using the facility and employ two members of staff to run the clubs for youngsters.
The group were given the money as part of a three-year programme by the charity and are in the process of re-applying for a new grant.
Youth pastor Andy Hicks has been involved in the scheme from the beginning.
“We run a youth club with pool tables, music, tuck shops and Nintendo Wiis and then we have a creative arts session and at the moment the children are using jam jars to make Christmas presents and making Christmas cards. The funding has been absolutely amazing because it has allowed us to run this free of charge and employ people to come in and be dedicated to the project and provide the equipment and rent the hall. We are applying for funding again and hoping we can run this long into the future.”
Siren FMs Hasina Sacranie spoke to Andy Hicks. You can hear the full interview below.
