Two former students from the University of Lincoln won a prestigious Royal Television Society award last night for their short documentary on prostitution.
‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’, an investigative piece by Holly Collas and Simon Mcknight, looks into the issue of soliciting sex, and features an exclusive interview with an ex-call girl and a man who admits that he has used prostitutes in the past.
Simon Mcknight says he was shocked to win the award.
“We saw the other pieces that had been nominated, they were very good pieces. And then they said our name and I was just in shock. I didn’t really know what to do!”
“Then I got up and we went and picked up our awards.”
The Royal Television Society’s annual awards are decided by balanced juries of media professionals, with separate juries for individual categories within each of the six groups of Awards. “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” won in the “Graduate Factual” catergory for the RTS Midlands Student award.
