Lincoln got into the Christmas spirit this past Friday with a triple lights switch-on at different locations in the city.
The festivities kicked off at the St Marks Shopping Centre in the afternoon when Lincs FM hosted performances by an Ariana Grande tribute act and Unplugged Live winner Charlie Russell.
Check out our footage and photos of all the lights and fun in the video below:
After the first switch-on at 6.30pm the heaving crowds quickly filtered on to the high street, buying sparkling souvenirs as they went, with many stopping off at THOR’S Tipi bar to get merry.
Then at 7pm the second set of lights were switched on by Lincoln Mayor Keith Weaver alongside panto stars Amelia Lilly of X Factor fame, former children’s presenter Barney Harwood, and Chris Johnson – all from the New Theatre Royal’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The final switch-on took place at the Waterside shopping centre, lighting up the entire main entrance and their large Christmas trees in the centre and outside in the square.
The City of Lincoln Council’s Kate Fenn said the annual switch-ons are always “positive for the city as it brings out the crowds and benefits local businesses that stay open late”.
