With exactly a month untill Christmas day, the Lincoln city centre ice rink is set to open today. The rink which is a feature every year will be opened at 6 pm this evening, with a performance form former olympic skater Kelly Hemmingway and her dance partner Neil Chilcott, the cast of this years pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’ will also be helping to entertain the crowds.
The rink will be situated in the city square from today until January 2nd, where thousands of people will take to the ice over the christmas period, these include the 2,000 children who have already booked their place . The young skaters will be helped from falling around the rink by six skiing penguins, each with handles on them.
Another feature that organisers want to include is the live webcams that were a success last year. These would allow people to see what is happening on the ice at all times. The opening is free to attend, but there are very limited places for time on the ice, so book ahead to avoid missing out.
