Amnesty International has been advocating human rights across the globe for nearly 60 years. By investigating and exposing human rights abuses, and lobbying governments or companies to respect international laws, the charity has rallied over seven million supporters to their cause.
Amnesty International is offering a free online course to help educate the public about how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting human rights.
They believe that, armed with knowledge, people are able to hold states to account and ensure the protection of human rights is upheld. The course will address issues that include: border controls, enforced curfews and quarantines.
Amnesty International’s website says: “States are not responsible for COVID-19, but they are responsible for how they respond to it. The virus cannot be used as an excuse to roll back on fundamental human rights.”
