The inquest into the tragic death of Red Arrows Flight Lieutenant Sean Cunningham has been opened and adjourned.
The investigation, taking place in Lincoln, aims to establish the facts surrounding Mr Cunningham’s death.
It is believed the main parachute did not deploy and that the pilot didn’t become separated from his seat of the Hawk T1 aircraft during the incident, which took place at the Red Arrows base at RAF Scampton, Lincolnshire.
A post-mortem examination was carried out which revealed the cause of his death was multiple injuries due to falling from a great height. Experts are being used to help examine the ejector seat.
Lincolnshire Police are continuing to investigate the case and the details will be reported back to the Coroner soon.
