Lincoln City Football Club’s wait for a match will have to continue as their fixture with Shrewsbury has been called off.
This is now the eighth game in a row to have fallen victim to the English weather for the Imps.
After a pitch inspection yesterday, it looked like the game could go ahead but upon further inspection this morning, the playing surface was deemed unplayable.
Roads and particularly paths around the stadium also continue to be deemed a hazard and will have contributed to the decision.
Lincoln’s next game, and first for over four weeks, is due to be at home on New Years Day; one of the biggest days in the British football calendar; when they play host to Bradford City.
The income generated from this match would be hugely important to the club after they recently announced a £200k loss over the last financial year.
A new date for their fixture with the Shrews has not yet been announced, although City now have a remarkable eight matches to catch up on.
