Lincoln City Football Club have yet again been feeling the brunt of the freezing conditions as their F.A. Cup replay with Hereford United has been postponed for the third time.
After their League Two tie with Aldershot was called off at the weekend, the Imps’ ground staff had a massive task ahead as they tried get the Sincil Bank pitch ready for Tuesday nights game.
However, despite doubling up on frost covers for the pitch, former referee, Phil Joslin had no hesitation in the calling the game off. Once again, due to safety concerns after a pitch inspection.
According to the club’s website, the temperature at the time of the inspection was -8 Celsius.
This is a remarkable sixth consecutive game that has been called off for City. Something that they will hope to put an end to on Boxing Day when they face Northampton Town away. However, it is unknown yet whether the game will go ahead as there has been snow falling around the area all weekend.
No date has been set for the fourth attempt at this F.A. Cup tie with Hereford. But with the winners scheduled to face Wycombe Wanderers in the next round on January 8th, it will be sooner, rather than later.
