Greater focus should be placed on religious education in schools across Lincoln, a leading city councillor has said.
Chris Burke is the chair of policy scrutiny committee with the City of Lincoln Council and also chairs the Lincolnshire Standing Advisory Committee on RE.
He wants schools across Lincolnshire to expand their opportunities for pupils to study and learn about different faiths and non-faiths.
Doing so would add to the variety and philosophical underpinning of the school curriculum, he believes.
Cllr Burke – who was mayor in the city in 2017-18 – said: “It is important for children to have a knowledge of the different cultures that our world has.”
