Workers from a number of Lincoln’s food outlets have demonstrated across the city, in protest of zero hour contracts and wages.
The protest happened on Saturday 21 November and were raising awareness of the campaign Hungry for Justice. Members from a number of unions including Lincoln TUC; Unite Lincoln; and the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers’ Union called for a stop to zero hour contracts and a rise in the minimum wage to £10 an hour.
The head of the campaign: Jade Clarke, a staff member at Lincoln’s Nandos store, was there not to campaign for herself but rather to ensure the other food outlet workers could experience the same level of treatment as she does. She said: “A lot of my friends are in horrible situations with work in the food industry.”
