After losing their first five games of the season, Lindum Men’s first team extended their winning streak to two games, with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield Hallam.
As a club, it is Lindum’s first season after the summer merger between Lincoln Roses Hockey Club, and Lincoln Hockey Club.
The merger came due to the two clubs sharing the same pitch at the Lindum Sports Association, just off Wragby Road, Lincoln.
Captain of the Men’s first team, Gary Johnson, said the merger has been very effective: “Team wise, players have integrated well and we hope to see further progress made over the coming months.”
Earlier this month, Mr Johnson was awarded the Coach of the Year award at the Lincolnshire Sports Awards, for his work with junior hockey players in the region.
“It was a fantastic achievement, I was hugely honoured to be just nominated and felt very proud to have been shortlisted, ” Mr Johnson said.
The Men’s first team are ninth in the North Hockey Division One league, which is three tiers below the National Premier League, the top league in England.
After eight games this season they have won three, and lost six, however, those three wins have all come in the last four games.
Sheffield Hallam travelled to Lindum a place below them in the table, in tenth position.
