Historical timber buildings have been “disappearing” in Lincoln

Where have Lincolnshire's medieval timber buildings gone?

St Hughs Hall in Lincoln held a talk about how multiple historical timber buildings in Lincolnshire have been knocked down or refurbished over the years.

Lincoln’s timber buildings are what make the city look so historical and old-fashioned, bringing in more tourists, and removing the buildings could result in less tourism.

“The top end of Lincoln is full of timber buildings and that’s where all the tourists go”. – Jenne Pape

Organised by the Society for Lincolnshire History and Archaeology, presented by Mark Gardiner and Jenne Pape, they said that most timber buildings “rot and are replaced” because of the old wood.

“I think it’s really important that we try to keep as many as we can, but some have to be knocked down because they’re not safe”. – Jenne Pape
