Lincolnshire Police have a new way to test whether people have been taking illegal drugs and it can be used at the side of the road.
Police are using the newly available DrugWipe to crack down on people driving whilst under the influence of drugs.
The DrugWipe is a very simple test that uses peoples saliva to detect traces of; cannabis, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines and methamphetamines. Functionally and in its appearance it is similar to a pregnancy test it just requires three circular wipes of someone’s tong.
Previously the only rode side test available was for alcohol meaning people using other substances could avoid being caught.
This new piece of kit comes as part of a national Chrismas Drug and Drink Driving Campaign.
