British Heart Foundation raised over £3,000 for the charity after a charity match that featured former Lincoln City players.

Ashby Avenue, home of Lincoln United, played host to the Peter Burr Memorial Cup with British Heart Foundation FC (BHF FC) and a team of Lincoln City legends including former City Midfielder Terry Fleming, brothers Mark and Danny Hone and goalkeeper Barry Richardson.

Match organiser, and son of Peter whom the match is in honour of, Gary Burr said: “Nearly 3 years ago my dad died of a heart attack so i wanted to do something in his memory and we both love football so I just thought I’d set up a charity football match, and that’s what i did and its gone really well.”

Trevor Swinburne, chair of the Lincoln City former players association, was part of the reason that the Lincoln City Legends got involved, Gary said: “I’ve known Trevor for a couple of years and we just

thought lets get a game on.” He continued: “I think we had 16 ex-players so really great for Lincoln (City) supporting and a lot of City fans came down tonight so it’s fantastic.”
