People in Lincoln are being urged to knit blankets for premature babies born at Lincoln County Hospital.
The Warm Baby Project provides wool garments for premature babies and is asking for people in Lincolnshire to send in blankets to Lincoln County Hospital.
Lincoln County Hospital reached out to the project to ask for blankets as, many premature babies struggle to regulate body temperature because they have little body fat.
All blankets must be a pale colour and they can be knitted or crochet.
Many hospitals from around the country contact the Warm Baby Project to donate woollen items to maternity wards.
As well, the project gets in touch with hospitals they have previously helped to see if they need anything else.
People who cannot knit can donate money to the Warm Baby Project via their GoFundMe page to, so people who can knit can afford to do so.
Since the project was set up in 2018, about £2,000 has been spent on wool, with each blanket costing around £4 to make.
Olivia Cundell set up the project after a family friend’s grandson was born prematurely and was left needing clothes.
With over 50,000 likes on their Facebook page, many people have gotten involved in the cause throughout the country by giving their time to help.
