Cases of animal cruelty has seen a steady rise over the past decade according to statistics by the RSPCA.
Many of these animals are abandoned around the countryside in Lincolnshire where they are subjected to disease, dehydration, starvation and hypothermia.
Along with pets, many working and racing animals also meet this fate. Lucy, a greyhound sent to the rescue shelter managed by Alistair, had been abandoned in the woods and left to die after she broke her leg and could no longer race.
On average, a call is made to the RSPCA’s cruelty-line every 30 seconds. This amounts to over one million calls a year nationwide.
