And the lights are off! How to celebrate Earth Hour at home

Facts about Earth hour

Earth Hour is back and taking place on Saturday March 30.

The annual event encourages people to switch off electricity for an hour to help raise awareness of environmental issues across the world.

Created by the conservation organisation WWF in 2007, Earth Hour has grown in size with over 10 million people now taking part.

Many landmarks and monuments will turn off their lights for an hour, with towns and cities across the world also hosting events for people to join in.

While Lincoln itself won’t be hosting a public event, people at home can take part by switching of their lights for an hour at 8.30pm.

The Earth Hour website provides information on how to take part, where tool kits are also available for people who want to host an event.
