When you think of football, you probably think of the Premier League. However, The Lincolnshire FA has now formed a Powerchair Football Club, which allows those with disabilities to play the sport.
The game allows those who have very limited mobility to get active. Adapted wheelchairs allow players to attack, defend and spinkick a 13-inch ball.
Nationally, the game is governed by the wheelchair football association. Across the county, the FA will pump 75,000 pounds through the Disability Development Fund over the next three years.
The game has already formed an integral part of the disability development in Lincolnshire.
One participant, Alex, has never been able to play the game until now: “It’s frustrating because I wanted to be involved, especially football because that’s my favourite sport. Until this came along, there was no real way I could play it.”
