Two of Lincoln’s GP surgeries are among four to close across the country.
Burton Road Surgery, Arboretum Surgery, Metheringham Surgery and Pottergate Surgery will all close on January 7, 2017, affecting around 9,000 people.
Patients are being told that they need to register with an alternative practice that is within 0.2 miles of their current surgery. They have until January 7 to do so.
Universal Health that was brought in to manage the four practices back in 2015, asked the NHS to take over their contract following financial difficulties in July.
NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group had tried to get a long-term provider who could take over the management of the practices but when applications were received and analysed the bids didn’t meet the minimum criteria for a contract to be awarded for the provision of services.
Danny Adamson spoke to, Sarah-Jane Mills, director of service development and delivery at Lincolnshire West CCG.
