A petition set up against cuts to 15 Lincolnshire children’s services have received over 1,00o signatures in less than 24 hours.
If the plans go ahead Lincolnshire County Council will close 15 Sure Start centers across the country, in areas such as Boston, Sleaford, Grantham and East Lindsey.
Helen Mair, set up the petition after seeing plans to close the centres in the Lincolnshire County Council magazine.
Helen said, “Sure Start children’s centres play a vital role in early intervention with parents”.
“They offer many different resources all under one roof such as, antenatal session, mothers with babies, finances, promoting a healthy lifestyle, helping children with speech problems and much more, the list is just endless”.
“They are great support for so many people and this is why we need as many signatures as we can get by the end of the week.”
