Following the success of last years Barons’ Trail, painting has begun in Lincoln on the city’s Knights’ Trail.
Like the Barons’ Trail the Knights’ Trail is composed of a series of art installations displayed all across the area. Visitors to Lincoln are encouraged to explore the city in order to find them all.
Local artists are currently hard at work painting the knights in locations such as Lincoln’s Waterside Shopping Centre, where visitors can watch the progress and speak to the designers.
Thirty-one artists are involved in the project and together they will be creating over 35 knights that will officially go on display from the 20th of May and will remain there until the 3rd of September.
Once the trail is finished, the knights will be auctioned off for charity.
Two thirds of the proceeds will be donated to The Nomad Trust, who help Lincoln’s homeless while the last third will go to an art and innovation fund designed to create similar art installations that entice tourists to the city.
In 2015 the 25 Barons as part of the Baron’s Trail raised over £165,000 in a public auction and it’s hoped that the knights trail can raise even more this year.
