The fourth-largest supermarket chain in the UK, Morrisons, has announced price cuts on goods such as fruit and vegetables, which will see customers save over 19% on goods.
Over 1,000 products will be affected, with prices for items such as plums, potatoes and broccoli being reduced. Morrison’s says its customers will save just over £5 with the price cuts scheme in place.
As well as lowering the prices of over 1,072 items, the supermarket giant has also announced plans for a ‘price crunch’ scheme, a rolling programme of lower prices in selected items, which will typically last for at least three months.
The announcement comes as Morrisons fight to maintain a share in the grocery market.
In a press release, Morrisons Chief Executive David Potts said: “We are cutting the prices of products that customers will welcome being cheaper at Morrisons and we are cutting every penny we can.
“We continue to listen carefully to customers and they have told us they want lower prices, particularly on fresh food and everyday essentials.”
