A Lincoln Mum who lost her 10-month-old son to Meningitis has spoken out after the government rejected an 800,000 strong petition to vaccinate under 11s against the disease. Korreena Cook’s son Sam died just 4 hours after being diagnosed with the disease and she fears that other children will suffer if parliament ignore this public call for inoculations.
According to Meningitis Research Foundation, there are 3,200 new cases each year, many of which result in either death or leave the survivors with severe disabilities. The charity Meningitis Now say that under 11s are the most vulnerable to developing the disease and believe that if the petition was acted upon, it could save thousands of lives.
