A memorial for 56 people who have died on roads in Lincolnshire in the last year has gone on display in Lincoln Cathedral.
The memorial, which is a collection of 56 pairs of shoes, is being displayed in the Cathedral’s Morning Chapel.

Each pair of shoes that is being displayed is to represent each person that died in road traffic accidents in 2018, throughout the county.
The project is designed to raise awareness and make people think about road safety and to take action.
The Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership and Churches Together in All Lincolnshire have joined together to organise the display.
Organisers say that the shoes represent the gender and ages of the people who have died.
Michelle Andrews, from Lincoln Cathedral said: “Seeing the pairs of shoes in the Chapel has a really strong impact. It makes you realise that it’s a lot of people that have been killed.”
She added: “The Morning Chapel gives us an opportunity to raise awareness of the issue and it helps the public to reflect about it in a number of ways.”
A visitor to the exhibition said they saw the same pair of shoes that they were wearing.
They said: “It makes you think how it could literally be anyone who you know. It’s a strong message.”
John Siddle, from the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership said: “Just one person being killed on the roads has a huge effect on the whole of society, not just the individuals involved.”
He added: “This is about a moment of reflection. When you see the shoes stand and look at them and just think about all of the other people who had been effected by the 56 that had been killed.”
According to Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, 1,793 people were injured on Lincolnshire’s Roads in 2018.
After leaving Lincoln Cathedral, the display of shoes will travel to other churches in the county.
Hundreds of people are expected to see the exhibit, which is to be on display in Lincoln Cathedral until Sunday, 5th May.
