Lincoln florist sees surge in bookings

People are starting to feel more confident about bigger gatherings

The Steep Hill florist, The Arbour, is starting to see increases in bookings as coronavirus restrictions are being eased.

The busiest month coming up for weddings in Lincolnshire is July, with the florist often booked for numerous deliveries on the same day.

“People are still hesitant about bigger weddings,” according to Chloe, who manages the shop.

“But weddings are very expensive, so it’s hard to tell if people are avoiding them because of coronavirus or because of their cost.”

A lot of weddings booked for June 2020 had been postponed to June 2021, but some as far back as June 2022.

The majority of inquiries have been for 2022, extending past the usual summer months and into the autumn.

The florist has also seen a similar rise in orders for funeral flowers.

“I’ve personally seen more orders in the past four weeks than I have in the past year of working here,” Chloe said.

“But you never know if it’s a coincidence. People will always have funerals but not everyone gets to have weddings.

“It’s beginning to change now, though. People are showing a lot more interest.”
