Siren FM’s City Vibe group decided to have their very own bake off this week to celebrate the end of the Great British Bake Off.
This year the show’s finale was the most watched show on BBC 2, with a whopping 9.1 million tuning in to see Frances Quinn win the fourth series.
With the show being such a success, we at City Vibe decided to see who would be crowned our best baker.
We ended up with a varied arrangement of sweets, including cookies, gingerbread men, lemon cake, banilla cupcakes (banana and vanilla), muffins, crumble and mars bar and rice crispie squares.
Our judges were colleague Daniel Baker, PR student and enthusiastic baker Fran Griffin and tutor Sam Pidoux.
The winning sweet treats had to be ones that were full of flavour, nicely presented and with a perfect texture.
Luke Botham, one of the contestants, was a little apprehensive about his lemon cake after a certain disaster.
“I’m sure the members of the public will love my ripped up, torn apart cake…” he said.
To find out what happened to Luke’s cake, listen to our preview of the bake off below.
